"I'll be a Fool" - After the Chase

"I'll be a Fool"
After the Chase
Music and lyrics by Nathan & Jenna Strong

I'll be a fool for You
I’ll be a fool for You
Human wisdom can’t compare to the absurdity of God
You take delight in using Lord,
what the world considers dumb
And when I laugh my face will show a joy unchecked by fear
My hands will raise my feet will dance
I don’t care how I appear
Oh the wisdom of this world has been turned on it’s head
Even in Your weakness God, there is strength to rise again
And when I shout my neighbors hear a freedom in this heart
I cannot help but jump around with delight in who You are
I will don the jester's cap and dance around like mad
For all the world to see how free a heart can be
Oh I'll don the jester's cap and dance around like mad
For all the world to see how free a heart can be
And when I shout my neighbors hear a freedom in this heart
I cannot help but jump around with delight in who You are
And when I laugh my face will show a joy unchecked by fear
My hands will raise my feet will dance
I don’t care how I appear

The group After the Chase made quite an impact at the Creative Promotions Late Nite @ GMA this past April. One of the songs this husband and wife duo of Nathan and Jenna Strong shared was “I’ll Be a Fool.” After their performance, I had several key programmers tell me they were very excited about this song and if it was released as a single, they would quickly add it. Well, that time has come and I am very pleased to announce the release of “I’ll Be a Fool” from After the Chase.

“The first time I heard the chorus for ‘I’ll Be A Fool’ I was making dinner in the kitchen,” remembers Jenna Strong. “I felt such a connection with what was being sung that I quickly dropped my spoon and walked out to the living room to find my husband, Nathan, hunkered down on the couch with his guitar. He would say he was just “messing around” but I ran to get the tape recorder.”

She continues, “1 Corinthians 1:18 (NIV) says, ‘For the message of the cross is foolishness to those who are perishing, but to us who are being saved it is the power of God.’ In our culture, many people think we are foolish for having a relationship with an invisible Jesus, but God has saved and chosen us – the weak, lowly, the not-so-bright, not influential by human standards, to show the intellectuals of this world that they cannot be saved by their own smarts. 1 Corinthians goes on to say: ‘Everything that we have – right thinking and right living, a clean slate and a fresh start-comes from God by way of Jesus Christ’ (1 Cor. 1:30). God chose us nobodies, now right with God, to show up the hollow bragging of the “somebodies”. As 1 Cor 1:31 says ‘So if you are going to blow a horn, blow a trumpet for God!’

After the Chase’s song, “I’ll Be A Fool” aims to do just that!

If you’re looking for a song that will catch the attention of your listeners, add “I’ll Be a Fool.” If you’re looking for a song that will make your listeners think more deeply about what it means to be a follower of Christ, add “I’ll Be a Fool.” If you’re looking for a song that will be more than just background music, add “I’ll Be a Fool.”

Give “I’ll Be a Fool” from After the Chase a listen TODAY! We’re going for national adds and impact on Friday, July 11!

Biography

It is rare to find a person who writes lyrics, composes melodies, plays multiple instruments, and loves God with all their heart. Now imagine two of these unique, artistic people joining their gifts to serve God together.

This is the core of After the Chase: husband and wife duo, Nathan and Jenna Strong. As worship leaders and performers, their approach to music is unique. When performing live, they bring more than music to the stage -- they add drama and stories to their songs -- and also mix in their own quirky sense of humor to every concert. When leading worship, they point towards Jesus as the one person who has the power to change us, and in changing us, to change the world.

With a passion for short term missions, for the environment, and for social justice, Nathan and Jenna strongly believe that a life of faith is useless unless that faith is expressed in real, concrete action.

Their recently released sophomore album "Make Me New" captures in song their emotions and journeys of the last few years. Just like the book of Psalms, it is filled with fervent prayers, heartfelt worship, and anguished questions... their songwriting is skillful, beautiful, gritty, and winsome all at once. Produced by veteran producer Nate Sabin (Jason Gray, Dove Award nominated Sara Groves), this album takes ATC's music to a new level.

The name of the band, After the Chase, comes from an old Southern saying about romance: "He chased her until she caught him." "Throughout our lives," says Nathan, "we find ourselves chasing after God, only to find that God has been catching us all along. Our music is our response to being caught up in the unconditional love offered to every one of us by the Creator of the universe."
